Education Request: CMBA supports educational and nonprofit organizations in the Baltimore area by providing volunteers to inform the public about the importance of honey bees and beekeeping.  If you make a request, please be specific about: (1) the nonprofit organization you are representing (2) the attending number and age of your target audience.  (3) the preferred date, time, and location. (4) topic you would like emphasized, if any.  Contact Rich Scheper at

Swarm or Bee Removal: If you see a swarm of honey bees or know of honeybees bees in a building that need to be removed, you are on the wrong page!  We have a dedicated group of folks who are glad to help, though. (A fee may be involved.)  Just click here.

I’m not a member, but I need help with my bees: The best way to get help regarding your bees is to join CMBA.  The membership fee is only $20.00 and it goes toward supporting a number of member benefits and activities.  Among them are  (1) an online discussion forum where you can ask questions about beekeeping (2) monthly membership meetings at the Oregon Ridge Nature Center  (3) a teaching and research yard at the Baltimore County UMES Ag Center  (4) a monthly newsletter for all members  (5) our Beekeepers Library, where you can check out multimedia related to Apis mellifera.  (6) organizing efforts for pollinator protection legislation   (7) education and outreach by our dedicated volunteers (8)  an active website.  So join now!

CMBA Beekeeping Course:  We get a lot of questions about our beekeeping course.  It is only offered once a year, in late winter – early spring.  We do not run a beekeeping course in autumn.  Dates for the course are not known until early January.  Please keep an eye on this page after January first.  Once the registration page is ready to go, please do not delay.  The class fills up rather quickly.

Nuc Yard Participation: Our bee yard is a popular hands-on teaching and research apiary for members.  We get many requests to take part in the fun, but we do require that you join CMBA first.  The bee yard is one of many CMBA efforts that depends on membership funds for sustainability.  It is a great way to meet some terrific people in our community, as well!
